Finishing Strong

Sure, it might sound crazy talking about New Year’s resolutions in September; but, if you think about it, it really is not. It really is hard to believe that we are already in the ninth month of the year. Where has the time gone? Just a minute ago Summer was kicking off; and, now, here we are beginning the Fall season.

However, from a New Year’s resolution perspective, we are in the year’s sweet spot. Think about it, we have a full quarter left to work on those resolutions that we vowed to accomplish in January. Even though we might have fallen off the wagon a few times over the last nine months, we have three more months to recalibrate and get back on track.

Isn’t it exciting to know that there is still time left? All is not lost. But, here’s the thing, there’s no more time for procrastination. Now is the time to move into high gear and push forward along the path of achieving the goals set for the year.

And while we have every intention of finishing the year strong, we know that the added pressure of the upcoming holiday season could easily derail our plans. But, it doesn't have to be. Here's the secret...start your holiday planning and chores in September. This is the critical month that can make or break your holiday season. Here are some tips.

Halloween

If you have children (or maybe furbabies), start working on their costume now while there is still time to flex some creativity muscle without breaking the bank.

Holiday Travel or Guests

Will you be traveling or hosting guests at your home during this holiday season? If traveling, this is the time to purchase airline tickets and make hotel reservations.

With continued shortages, flights and hotels are quickly filling up.  On the other hand, if you will be opening your home for guests, take care of any necessary home repairs or sprucing up projects now.

This is the time when there is still ample time, supplies and available repairmen and women.

Gift Giving

Make a list of who will be receiving gifts from you, establish a budget and stick to it.

Take this time to find gifts that will be meaningful, not necessarily expensive.

Entertaining

Will you be hosting holiday parties? Connecting with your favorite event planner now will make a world of difference on your stress level and allow you to fully enjoy the last few months of the year.

So, what is your New Year’s resolution and what are your plans for ending the year with a bang? Now is the time to make it happen.
